Cascade United Methodist Church member Receives honor from Fulton County Board of Commissioners
Bobby Wilson who serves as a member of the Cascade United Methodist Church finance committee was recently honored by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners for his outstanding contribution to help improve our environment. Mr. Wilson has provided these services through the Fulton County Extension program and his community gardening program that he has directed for over 25 years. The proclamation recognized his support of sustainable agriculture and gardening in Fulton County. Bobby has supported residents of Fulton County by encouraging, training and assisting them to feed themselves through community gardening, church gardening and working with small farmers through the Federation of Southern Cooperatives. He has been instrumental in advocating for the benefits of urban gardening, by training new leaders in Fulton County through the Atlanta Urban Garden Leadership Association, started by Bobby over 20 years ago to expand and network the concepts and advantages of urban farming throughout the region. He has worked with youth in the Juvenile Justice Court system in Fulton County and worked with the Atlanta Community Food Bank to provide fresh vegetables to the hungry. Bobby is also president of the American Community Gardening Program. The proclamation recognized April 18, 2012 as Bobby Wilson Appreciation Day in Fulton County, Georgia.
